DESCRIPTION
The new Rascal has been completely redesigned from the ground up and has ended with the best, most capable trail bike on the market. We like to call this bike the one bike to rule them all and we mean that. This bike provides an unmatched versatility allowing riders to choose any ride without hesitation. The Rascal is an efficient peddler and confident descender that handles berms, drops, rocks and more with ease.
After years of development, Revel is confident we nailed it with the trail bike for all. A ground up redesign featuring all-new geometry, a whole new carbon laminate, updated linkage, and more. The new Rascal was built to excel in a huge variety of riding conditions and stake its claim as the apex of adventure and the best trail bike out there.
Whether you’re just getting into the sport or have been riding the trails for years, this bike is fast, fun, versatile and capable. It handles low speed tech with ease and releases the beast when the high speeds hit. It’s built to tame any trail from classic roots and rocks to chunky deserts to bombing berms through high alpine aspen trees. All things considered: this is the best bike Revel has ever released.
What is a Rascal?
The all-new Rascal is a carbon fiber 29er, with 130mm of rear travel and 140mm of travel in the front. An efficient peddler, a confident descender, a precision handler, the new Rascal highlights the best of the patented CBF suspension design. With an improved carbon layup and perfected geometry, you can count on chatter-free descending, consistent suspension with smooth braking, and surprisingly efficient climbing.
CFB at the heart of the bike
So how do we do that? Let’s run through some of the highlights of the Canfield Balance Formula. CBF was developed by Chris Canfield, a suspension design genius based in Utah. When we set out to start Revel, we knew the bike was only as good as the suspension platform, and we needed the best. So, after riding endless options, which all had their flaws and benefits, we landed on a Canfield bike and within a few pedal strokes, we were sold. Most simply explained, CBF is a suspension flatform that focuses on the center of curvature which separates pedal and brake forces at all points of travel. This allows the rear wheel to smoothly move up and down efficiently, regardless of the terrain.
Or, as Chris eloquently refers, CBF as the choreography of Suspension and Chain. A circus act playing teeter totter over the chainring.
Compared to the previous Rascal
Compared to the original model, the all-new Rascal is 150 grams lighter than its predecessor, and it’s a whole lot stiffer too. Thanks to a new, optimized carbon layup, this improved ride quality is noticeable right out the gate. To simplify things, we used carbon co-molded guided internal cable routing for easy maintenance- take our word for this, life’s easier this way. The pivot bolt and bearing design is all new and allows for a stiffer, quieter interface and one-tool system for super easy maintenance and it now comes with UDH (Universal Derailleur Hanger) compatible for the latest performance drivetrain options.
New Geometry
The biggest change to this bike is an entirely new geometry layout. It’s longer and slacker but not too long and too slack, with a steeper seat tube. Modern, but not too modern. With a head tube angle of 65.5 degrees, effective seat tube angle of 76-77 degrees depending on size, and chainstays at 436mm, the Rascal comes to life on just about any singletrack in any corner of the world.
New Size
Now offering an XXL, the Rascal now accommodates riders 5’ – 6’8, with size specific seat tube angles and three sets of mounts on the XXL!
Kinematics
At the core of Revel is our suspension system- CBF. Canfield Balance Formula. Paired with the original Rascal’s kinematics, the absolute best of CBF was brought to life. The all-new Rascal has improved geometry and linkage, which paired with CBF suspension and kinematics, makes the Rascal a force to be reckoned with, in any situation.
Quality and Craftmanship
Revel is a small company in a small town and we take pride in making the best bikes we can. For the first time ever, all assembly of the Rascal will be handled directly in-house at our Carbondale headquarters and Taiwan facility, allowing us to go the extra mile so you get the best bike possible. We’re incredibly proud of this bike and I can’t wait for you to ride one.
