Their Story
DESIGNED TO FILTER OUT WATERBORNE PATOGENS SUCH AS BACTERIA AND PARASITES
LifeStraw is a company that produces portable water filters for personal and emergency use. The company was founded in 1994 by a Swiss company called Vestergaard Frandsen, which specializes in producing disease-control textiles and materials.
The first LifeStraw product was launched in 2005 and was designed to filter out waterborne pathogens such as bacteria and parasites. The device was a simple, portable straw that could be used to drink directly from contaminated water sources.
Since then, the company has expanded its product line to include a range of personal water filters. The company has also developed larger-scale filters for use in humanitarian aid and emergency response situations.
Today, LifeStraw products are sold in over 64 countries, and the company has distributed millions of units to people in need.
Their Culture
GIVE BACK PROGRAM
For every LifeStraw product sold at retail, a school child in need receives safe drinking water for an entire school year. This is the core promise of the LifeStraw Give Back Program. Customers, through their purchases, help to fund and support a long-term safe drinking water program for school children in need around the world.
The LifeStraw Give Back Program is more than just dropping off water purifiers. With volunteers and a dedicated local LifeStraw team at crucial sites worldwide, the program includes comprehensive planning, training, education, and quarterly follow-up visits for five years.
