What kind of self-guided winter adventures do you offer?
We offer snowshoeing, fat biking and backcountry skinskis.
I have never used Snowshoes before in my life. Can I take this trip?
Snowshoeing is designed for complete beginners. It is an ideal sport for those who want to enjoy an easy way to explore the winter backcountry. If you can hike you can snowshoe.
I have never used Backcountry skis before in my life. Can I take this trip?
Backcountry skis are the widest and most stable of all types of Nordic skis. It is because of this that almost anyone can easily learn the basics of this sport in a reasonably short period of time. It is an ideal sport for those who want to enjoy a fun way to explore the winter backcountry.
Where are you guys located?
We are located in Bracebridge, right in the heart of Muskoka. The area is well known as a cottage escape and is one of the finest all round areas for the outdoor enthusiast.
How do I get there?
Our store address is 271 Ecclestone Dr. in Bracebridge Ontario. See Map to our Location. Most of our hikes are around the Muskoka area within a 15-20 minute drive from our store.
What should I do if I am lost?
Prevention is the best advice. Bring a copy of our map along with an Ontario road map or map of the area to make sure that you know exactly where you are going. You will be provided with our mobile phone # with your map if you need detailed directions.
What equipment is provided?
Snowshoes
We provide the latest in lightweight aluminum Atlas snowshoes and poles are provided. For night hikes we provide you with a Petzl Headlamp.
Backcountry Skiing
We provide latest in skinsking equipment by OAC from Finland and poles are provided.
Fat Biking
We provide Corvus fat bikes and helmet is included. Corvus fatbikes are made to ride in the most extreme environments in the world.
What are we required to bring?
We recommend layered clothing that is waterproof and breathable. Include mitts, proper headwear and decent winter footwear designed for hiking. We do not recommend heavy Sorel style boots. We also recommend snow gaiters and sunglasses on sunny days.
All clothing and equipment you may need is available at our store at a 10% discount to clients. If you would like to do some shopping please come early or shop our online store to allow enough time before we need to leave.
Are there washrooms?
Please plan for no washroom facilities available. You may want to make a pit-stop before you arrive.
Should I bring lunch?
We recommend that you bring a waist or small pack with some energy snacks and at least 1L of water.
Where can we stay and where do we eat?
There are many good places to dine around Bracebridge. There is also decent accommodation close to our store.
How difficult are the routes?
Most of the routes we recommend for our groups are easy to moderate in difficulty with varied terrain and rolling hills requiring and medium level of fitness. If you hike or walk for recreation you can snowshoe.
How long does the hike last?
We have 2 and 4 hours adventures
What if I get hurt or have an injury?
While fairly uncommon during these activities it is advisible to carry first aid or a medical kit at all times.
Can I organize my own group?
Yes! We gladly accept personal and corporate groups and offer discounts for group bookings. We can offer any date that works with your schedule. Email or call us for details.
Do you have gift certificates?
Yes, we provide gift certificates for all occasions. We also have a special gift certificate for our ice courses.
